PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a Battle Royale game released by PUBG Corporation in December of 2017. In the game, up to 100 players land on and island where they scavenge for weapons and supplies and fight until only one player or one squad remains. Players can enter a match as a solo or with teams up to four. In PUBG players can play from a first-person or third-person perspective.
2019 marked the first official year PUBG has had a professional league. They unveiled nine regions worldwide with six of them having a professional league and the other three having a “pro circuit”. North America’s league is called the National PUBG League or the NPL. Professional games typically have sixteen teams in each game with four players per team.
PUBG is not on any of the major tournaments platforms such as CSL, AVGL, or Tespa. It has its own website for college teams to compete against each other called http://collegiatepubg.com/. They have tournaments for both duos and squads (2 and 4 player teams). Each school can host multiple teams. To keep score they use the same rules as PUBG Corp’s SUPER, basically meaning many teams are playing in one game and they use a points system based on how long your team survives and how many kills they rack up to determine a winner.
